Incorporating animal horns, dried flowers, fruit and colors from nature African tribes create dramatic face painting and headdresses. Face painting shows ferocity and strength in warriors and fertility and marriage availability for women of the tribe. In the African series I capture the vibrancy of the various selection of the colors that might be used to relay certain societal classes and celebratory images. The Witch Doctor image in this series is shown in vibrant reds and yellows to indicate his very important position in the tribe. While, the Queen is painted in more soft and muted colors to indicate the delicateness but the authority she may hold in the tribal community. The color selection of these works will show most profoundly on any wall in any space especially when paired with a gorgeous frame and matting.
